Leaving the comments here or refreshing the page will disconnect you from chat so you would have to reconnect.
It is possible that the chat will just say loading and never open. Try refreshing the page a few times or a different browser. We've been able to get it working in Firefox and IE7.

Having a short-term debate (a 'Thunderdome' if you will) where 2 or more folks could have a pre-arranged debate might be cool. Especially if the non-participants could comment in the 'main' chat room during the debate.
Is there any way
to state who is in the chatroom at any given time on the FP in the link box? May come in handy.

You can still change your nickname to be another user, which then shows up on the front page as 'who is in the chat room'
