It will be an interesting year.  We'll see if the Republican party can earn returns on the corpse of America.  We'll see how many airplanes terrorists can bomb.  We'll continue to see the MSM not live up to their estate billing.

And maybe, just maybe the niners will have a winning season, not that I should be unhappy with 8 - 8.

I know Eddie DeBartolo was the one who brought the salary cap on the NFL & (being a good little mob scion) tried to bribe Louisiana Governors for Gambling Casino rights (like how hard is it to bribe Louisiana officials?)....but GD, he was a great owner.  His brother-in-law & current owner John York is a bone head.

Sorry about the Redskins though.  You had good years.  Where you around for Theisman?

War is hell

And a "nice" war that lasts for decades might actually be more hellish than an intentional one.  

This is an interesting take on the Afghanistan situation.

After three years, part of the American public began to grow disenchanted with the war. “The Forbidden Book,” a book that explored the racial and commercial justifications for the war, cited a 1901 New York Times editorial that declared: “The American people are plainly tired of the Philippine War. … Is it the lack of troops, supplies, transportation, ammunition and artillery? Is it the lack of a competent commander? How long is this Philippine War going to last?”

Or are we really not fighting a war at all in Afghanistan?

Doing well, how's about you?

I also spoke with Specter recently (and found myself defending poor skymutt on dkos, heh) so it's like a SC reunion for me lately.  I haven't been blogging much at all lately - I'm lucky if I get a diary on dkos written once every four months, and a substantial one even rarer - but real life has encroached on my leisure activities!

well plenty of different things

But mainly I am getting married this year, and looking for a job in Florida (where my fiancee lives and works). Unless my current company allows me to work from Florida, which would be ideal as I want to stay with them.

I still follow politics but don't write/comment anywhere. I still read dkos, mostly for my fill of liberal outrage and intra-party wars, and see you there sometimes :)

 Who knows what the New year will bring?  

Riff, the Jets, Bernardo and the Sharks, Tony, Maria, Ofcr. Krupke and Lt. Schrank will be coming to town...at the Brattle Theatre on January 24th!  I've got tickets for myself and three other friends!  I can't wait!!

Sarah Palin Makes Debut as Fox News Contributor

Sarah Palin accounts for the controversy she attracts by saying her opponents don't like the "commonsense, conservative solutions" she represents.

Debuting as a Fox News analyst, the 2008 vice presidential candidate and former Alaska governor was the guest of Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday's edition of "The O'Reilly Factor."

During the interview, Palin said sinking approval numbers for President Barack Obama reflect "an uncomfortableness" some Americans feel toward his administration.

"It was just a matter of time," she said.

"There is an obvious disconnect between President Obama and the White House, what they are doing to our economy and what they are doing in terms of not allowing Americans to feel as safe as we had felt," she said.

She told O'Reilly she hadn't seen a recent "60 Minutes" report about her, explaining she was warned it contained "a bunch of b.s."

On the claim made on "60 Minutes" that she didn't understand the nature of her son's mission when he was shipped to Iraq, she said, "I think that these are the political establishment reporters who love to gin up controversy and spin up gossip. The rest of America doesn't care about that kind of crap."

O'Reilly told her she now has a forum with Fox News that allows her to "immediately neutralize '60 Minutes'" — he snapped his fingers — "like that." He invited her back on his show any time she wants to set the record straight.

Palin's multiyear deal with the network was announced Monday.

Congress pushing bill banning US tech co's from working for US

Government.  That's my take on it.  See, the article is about backing Google in their new position of not censoring search results for China's domestic market.  Google, as well as every other company doing business in China are forced to agree to China's Govt censorship.  They all have to do it.  Well, China was repeatedly trying to break into Google's systems so Google said 'screw you'.  So here we have the US Congress pushing a bill:

Wouldn't that mean that would ban US tech companies from doing business with the United States Government?
