This is my hope too.....
from above quoted diary.
oh no...
I can't believe he did that!

I just
had to share it with the SC crowd. :) Hopefully this will turn into a long discussion. :)
thanks
because I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise. Was about to go to bed...
"To discuss evil in a manner implying neutrality, is to sanction it." AR
Glad to be of service!
Is this true?
If so, your title bar better turn purple pretty darn quick. Or should you have a yellow stripe instead? :-)
(Just joking ... about the yellow part.)
(sigh)
I guess I shouldn't be too surprised though. You keep hanging out with the deviants over there at dKos. That's enough to screw up anyone's thinking (... and this is your brain when you hang out with morons). I gave up on them months ago.
I'm the Bugs Bunny of Swords Crossed!
-4 Strongly Disagree - 0 Meh - Strongly Agree +4the only thing that is true
is something that I thought wouldn't be news - hell haystack quit the GOP himself.
I just don't want to be registered republican. It's not that I changed my ideology or anything. I can't stand the leadership and well pretty much most of the current elected representatives and their complete disregard for conservatism and our ideology.
I think dkos people don't get that. I am not interested in adopting liberal ideas :)
So no, I haven't fundamentally changed. Staying red!
"To discuss evil in a manner implying neutrality, is to sanction it." AR
but now
I'll probably be banned on RedState...

Ha
Well if so you'll be in good company =)

Do they
do cross-post bans? I thought that was only a Dkos maneuver (a la pyrrho).

Ender is more an independent who is more at home with
many Republican ideals.
So, quitting? Hardly. He'll vote for some republicans this next election if he likes 'em.
Does he have problems with the current party? Probably less problems with the party than some of it's leaders and spokespeople. That just makes him normal.
Sorry Ender. I don't mean to dis you by calling you normal. God knows it'd be an insult if you said it about me.
I think that is what
a lot of people on Dkos are missing: the fact that you still hate democrats more. LarryInNYC really cherry-picked your diary. You did state your complaints, but you still have a lot of 'let's pretend' disclaimers that he is skipping out on.
On the other hand, I have never seen a conservative get so much attention and notoriety as you over there (as far as users). You are becoming a local celebrity.

hate is only reserved for the elected reps
but yes, I am not a friend to liberals. Many people will automatically think I am ripe for conversion or something silly like that.
It's ok. I can't pretend to be a loyal republican anymore. But I am a proud right winger :)
It's too bad Larry posted it but it's still funny. Fortunately I have no plans to ever run for anything.
"To discuss evil in a manner implying neutrality, is to sanction it." AR
By 'too bad'
do you mean you are pissed or just embarrassed? If the former, I think you should attempt to set the record straight. If the latter, well, it is good for at least a smile.

mostly embarrassed
it was not meant for such wide dissemination... I am not some big figure whose words matter much. I am just a conservative who likes to duke it out sometimes and enjoys the company here.
It is good for a smile, true. A sad smile too for multiple reasons.
"To discuss evil in a manner implying neutrality, is to sanction it." AR
Don't be modest...
You're pretty well known... you're the reason I joined up on this site... and you're notable, in that you're the only, and I mean only, right winger that I know of who posts even semi-regularly on DKos who hasn't been banned from the site. That must mean that others respect you also there... or maybe they've just adopted you as their pet right-winger so that they can feel that they are fairer than he right-wing blogs..
skymutt: accept no substitutes!
Well
Seeing as how Ender can at least discuss his opinions without resorting to regurgitated talking points while remaining reasonably civil and on point, one can understand why the dKos crowd hasn't banned him yet.
But I think maybe the pootie pictures have a lot to do with it ;-}

Pootie pictures
go a long way at DKos.

He's saved himself with a pootie pic before?
What a panderer! That's worse than Hillary's southern drawl in a black church! Poeple should see right through that and toll-rate the pootie!
skymutt: accept no substitutes!
But it was a *very* cute pootie
I can't find the comment but maybe he'll repost it. An endearing little scottish fold kitten looking so wistful: "Please may I have TU status? You can trust me, see, I'm just a little ol' harmless rightwinger. . . (hehehehe)"
I can't help it either. I'm a sucker for cats.

LOL found it

LOOOOOOOOL! Way to work the system, Ender!
Biggest panders in history:
1. John Kerry hunting trip
2. Hillary's southern drawl (cringe)
3. Dukakis ride in tank w/ helmet
4. Ender posting pootie pic on DailyKos
That is an exceptionally cute kitty, it is undeniable :-)

Looks like a "toyger." -nt
I came. I saw. I posted.
Veni, Vidi, Bitchy.
He strangled
that cat shortly after the picture was taken. "Tell me about the pooties, George." Pet, stroke. Aackkk!

Conservative ideas
Even many Dems would agree with the conservative rhetorics --but the devil is on the implementation.
How much smaller govt you like?
Do you like to get rid of public schools? Do you want to discontinue Medicare and Medicaid, and Social Security? Do you want to get rid of FDA, seat belt laws,
EPA, etc,
I guess I understand.
And even agree to some level with your dissatisfaction over the Republican leadership. But as Rush says, leaving is not the answer ... work from within to improve the leadership.
What alternative would you choose? Wondering about aimlessly just voting for whomever seemed to be the least objectionable in any given election?
I would be willing to vote Libertarian if I thought that they could actually win, but the reality is that a vote for the Libertarian just splits the Republican vote and lets the Democrat win. This I can no longer stomach.
Oh what a sad time we live in when even a stalwart soldier like Ender can be so easily turned away.
I'm the Bugs Bunny of Swords Crossed!
-4 Strongly Disagree - 0 Meh - Strongly Agree +4I'd vote for
a good republican candidate, so it's not like GOP would suddenly lose my votes when it counts to prevent a democrat from taking the White House.
I still think a Democrat would generally be worse. But I am not sure anymore that Gore or Kerry would've been worse than what Bush has done. He's decimated our party.
I have never changed what I believe in and I am not about to now over something so minor as not belonging to GOP. Like I said - haystack has done it, and I have great respect for him, but the guys at RS still do a lot of pretending for Bush and our Leadership, when instead they should've been leading the charge and shaking things up after '06.

Alas, this is true.

-4 Strongly Disagree - 0 Meh - Strongly Agree +4I went through
the same thing in 2000 regarding Nader (yes, I was one of them). On one hand, it did not make a difference in my state as Bush won handily, but it did make an impact elsewhere/overall. I can empathize with what Ender is saying.
At this point though, I don't think the democrats are the worse of any evils--true even if you are a right-winger.

I would even vote Democrat ...
on an individual basis if the candidate was a solid pro-gun type. I have said as much before.
I'm the Bugs Bunny of Swords Crossed!
-4 Strongly Disagree - 0 Meh - Strongly Agree +4Agreed
I voted for Republicans in the past (not recently), but would do so again for three reasons: 1) if the dem/liberal was incompetent, 2) if the dem showed blatant signs of corruption, and 3) in the rare case when the republican actually matches more of my personal ideology than the dem (which has happened though it is a rarity).
P.S. Welcome back! How was the vacation?

Vacation was good.
Typical family visit:
1) Eat.
2) Talk or Sleep.
3) Repeat.
Glad to be back home, though. :-)

-4 Strongly Disagree - 0 Meh - Strongly Agree +4Sounds fun
and civil. My family visits are like this:
1) Eat
2) Talk
3) Argue
4) Someone cries
5) Take aspirin
6) Repeat 1 to 5
7) Drive home in frustration at 11:00 at night.
No, I love my fam and they are good people. We really should just skip #2 to calm things down. :)

Heh
The existence of that diary is kinda cool and kinda silly at the same time. Do they really think that they've converted Ender? Do they really think he's had some epiphany and is ready to become a Democrat?
Amusing...

well Larry knows the truth
because he was here for a while at the start of the blog so he has some passing knowledge about me - plus it is pretty clear in what I wrote in that rant. But otherwise it is sadly funny.

Well, what's interesting
is watching people express varying degrees of hope and skepticism as Ender lays out his ideology, and the places where he comes across more moderate. My own hope, although it's a long shot, is that some people will come away from there with a little less a 2-dimensional view of conservatives.
I'm waiting for one of the people who really hates him to jump in there - no sign yet! But they do exist, yessir.

There's
definitely a few who express some antagonism to him, saying that 'they are not impressed' or that 'until he is a democrat, his disdain is meaningless'. Some people live in an all or nothing world of easy simplicity.

oh and
I won't be around for a big part of tomorrow - have to drive to CT for a meeting. Good night all. And dammit, that diary made it sound like I am completely changed...

Don't let it
get to you. You know what you believe. But it is good to see, through your objective analysis (which above looks to be slightly true of GoRight also), that we are not all moonbats! :)

Ender's a Democrat now?
LOL. I guess this means Ender is now a terrorist lover.

Maybe a Lieberman Democrat.
But my question is....Is that a Democrat?
hell no :)
