Instead of a new diary for tonight’s event I thought I'd just modify this one.
Alex Kowalski is livebloging from Manchester, NH for us if anyone is interested...

I just want to say
that Richardson is a moron.
Hillary Clinton is not too bad. Edwards and Obama are buffoons who have conspired to stroke each other on the stage to try to take Hillary out.

Hmm...
Care to elaborate on which proposal you found moronic?

it was based
on a couple of responses to various questions, on which he kept on talking about how he is a governor and missing the gist of the question.

Ah thanks
Watching the Yanks-Sox myself, so this is useful to catch up later =)

Joe Biden called for creating a
no-fly zone over the Darfur area to create military pressure on the Janjaweed militia. The other candidiates did not think much of the idea, preferring endless negotiating and trying to send more peacekeepers. I applaud Biden for having the courage to say what is needed.
name the enemy, win the war
Biden
and to a lesser degree Hillary, was the most reality land-inhabiting candidate. Most of the rest were either pompous, clueless, cliche-spouting, or all three at the same time.

Sorry I missed the liveblog -
I'm catching up watching online clips right now.

From Kowalski:
Yeah, he's right. Republicans are behind the times on the military issue.
Not only that, but we already serve with openly gay soldiers, since most of our international operations are now joint, with the very gay-friendly NATO. Apparently it demoralizes you when the American to your left is gay, but not when the Canadian to your right is gay. Gotcha.
Very happy to see all the Democrats united against Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

No problem
should be a decent I'm not a huge fan of how CNN ran Sundays debate and I thought Wolf dropped the ball a few times but still looking forward to it.

Brownback in favor of 3 state solution in Iraq?
Interesting... anyone have more details?

Leon H Wolf
Is working for Brownback and in NH I'll see if he can release some details before the bill is introduced tomorrow.

Good thought!
What's your take on the debate, who was the most impressive?
Come, my friends. 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world -- Tennyson
I think Huckabee...
...was great! Very solid and sincere answers for both Republican debates.
Rudy to me is always impressive as he was tonight.
I thought Romney had a couple of good moments (healthcare for one) but lost a step or two on some questions - he didn't articulate his "Future of the Party" idea he kept harping on.
Ron Paul showed again why he has zero accomplishments in public office
And McCain tries too hard to be presidential - he sticks by his beliefs, which is commendable just not conservative in practice!

I saw Huckabee
on This Week (video
) and was impressed. I don't agree with his stance on some social issues but I agree that he's sincere and he seems willing to be flexible without compromising his beliefs.
I know he doesn't have a chance at the nomination but I think he could help any of the big three as VP by appealing to social conservatives (although the Club for Growth wing doesn't like Huckabee).

If I was a conservative
Huckabee would be my guy.
He is just so darn likeable, and has that sunny optimism and an authenticity that seems to be missing in the other candidates.
As far as positions, I think its hard to beat Ron Paul for telling the out and out truth...... so good for him. I like what Ron Paul had to say about 'don't ask, don't tell'...... and respecting individual liberties.
It is the economy, stupid.
Huckabee, et al
I feel the same way about Huckabee. He doesn't seem as if he's ready to continue the divide-and-conquer method of red-state-blue-state politics. He's articulate and seems to bring a solid performance in each debate. I could tell that he didn't really like being pigeonholed as simply the Religious and Moral Candidate and did not get much chance to expand on other things (except immigration).
Other than that, I don't think anyone else (save maybe Rudy) that really stood out. Paul is like the Gravel of the Republicans, and McCain stands by his beliefs, which is good (but should be respected of any candidate), and the others, in my opinion, are filler candidates. Too many candidates to keep up with--there will be 11 now (for the record, I think there should be about 5 candidates on each side).

And then wonder why no one ever asks a Republican apologist for the war this question:
If the war was as mismanaged as you say, why has no one been held accountable for those "unnecessary" sacrifices?
