the Boring Coalition Against Drug Crime

Boring, Oregon, is a small community outside of Portland. I have a friend who puts on community theater at the lcal grange hall (yes, Boring actually has a grange hall). While seeing one of his plays I found this pamphlet and fell deeply in love.

There's a part of me that wants to assume that the good simple folks of Boring are in on the joke, but having stood in that grange I suspect the opposite.

that is pretty funny

Some good town / sign names that I've seen in the Tri-state area include Butzville, NJ and the sign with 2 town names, with first on top:

Clinton
Killingworth

Podunk?!

It's funny that people mention the town name "Podunk" to conjure up images of sleepy farm towns in the South, when there actually is a real Podunk in CT, of all places.

There were a bunch of them on the Interstate on the way to

... school when I was in college. One of my favorites was "Onarga Roberts" (two distinct towns at the same exit).

I used that as my fake name for years.

If you really believe this is the "fight of our lives," how come you're not in Iraq?

Been there. A brother-in-law used to live there.

North of Pittsburgh, Penna., is an intersection with a sign like this, indicating real towns down the cross road:
