Just so you are clear
this is a post from a soldier who had a polinoidal cysts removed (the same condition that caused Rush's exemption) who is now serving in Iraq, and is posting pictures of his friends who are serving in combat and asking Rush if he thinks that these good men are phony soldiers in Rush's mind.

I was editing ...
Here is what I would have added to the above post:

Oh, and of course the Media Matters link the soldier in question relies on is a lie. Why is Media Matters trying to dupe our fine men and women in uniform with misleading and inaccurate information?

Yes GR we
have all seen the edited version.
Of course he is mopping up by revising the transcript. I would do the same if I had called troops in the field, complying with their orders, serving at the pleasure of the Commander in Chief phony.
I am sure Rush can't backpedal fast enough to get this story off his back.
It's not the first time he has accused soldiers that vote blue of being unpatriotic.
It is the economy, stupid.
Outright lies. Nothing but outright lies.
Which is to be expected, I guess, as it is standard operating procedure for the left.

It's a bit lengthy
and you have to read the whole thing. He edited out portions of his orignal show in the transcript and audio
The fuller context of the original comments makes it clear his true intent.
Are you denying that Rush has never said hateful things about military men that have served their country IF they happen to be Democrats? Of course he has. It's his modus operandi.
It is the economy, stupid.
Well, I decided to do some first hand research here.
I have the audio files that I personally downloaded from RushLimbaugh.com on September 26, 2007 before this whole Phony "Phony Soldier" story was put up on Media Matters. So if they were edited, then Rush had to be clairvoyant because the story hadn't even broke. So as a baseline, here is what I found there:
$ md5sum *26*
cf7ae77d17170a5c37f4604abc7fae48 *Rush Limbaugh - Sep 26 2007 - Hour 1.mp3
032a269c9dd448f007c4f763c68377ec *Rush Limbaugh - Sep 26 2007 - Hour 2.mp3
b566da5848ddd0b777be1cc42790ae76 *Rush Limbaugh - Sep 26 2007 - Hour 3.mp3
I then cleared my IE cache and redownloaded the same files just now. Here is what I got:
$ md5sum *26*
cf7ae77d17170a5c37f4604abc7fae48 *Rush Limbaugh - Sep 26 2007 - Hour 1.mp3
032a269c9dd448f007c4f763c68377ec *Rush Limbaugh - Sep 26 2007 - Hour 2.mp3
b566da5848ddd0b777be1cc42790ae76 *Rush Limbaugh - Sep 26 2007 - Hour 3.mp3
So, upon close examination the original audio files for that day have not been altered, edited, or mopped up in any way.
The audio for the clips in question are in Hour 2. I then personally reviewed the audio again taking careful note of the timestamps within that file. Here is what I found:
So, the charge of editing must be concerned with his audio for September 28, 2007. Upon examining the Media Matters story found here
(as it existed at 2:49PM Eastern Time on September 29, 2007) their claim that Rush's audio recap had edited out a portion of the September 26 exchange is correct, and the content of the information edited out was also accurate and is being reproduced here to prevent tampering:
So, given this evidence the only thing that I can conclude is that both Media Matters and Missliberties are trying to falsely leave the impression that Rush had somehow covered something up by editing the audio. As we clearly see, however, the portion that had been edited was unrelated to the issue at hand, and hence is immaterial to the discussion. In other words, the edited portion had no substantive value to the discussion at all.
This hardly bolsters a charge of intentionally covering something up.
So, to summarize the full sequence of events we have the following (timestamps relative to the Hour 2 audio):
caller wants to discuss, among other things, unreal/fake soldiers. This
is information that Rush has as part of the call screening process.
soldiers point. The point that he wants to use as a transition or
introduction to his next segment which is going to be about his Morning
Update he had previously done on "Phony Soldiers".
previously produced morning update.
in Iraq. Rush engages the caller on the point but it is obvious that he
wants to move on to the next segment by indicating the this is something
that he wants to move on from.
previous call.
Now the interpetations of motives provided in the above scenario are my based on having listened to Rush's show for many years and understanding how he likes to run his program. This should not be considered outlandish by any means to someone who actually listens to the show.
So, while this time Media Matters hasn't committed an outright lie ... like their previous story on this subject did, they are clearly trying to mislead people about Rush's intentions with editing the script for clarity and to save broadcast time.
In the end, however, this is all just a distraction from the primary point that they are intentionally misrepresenting who Rush was referring to with his Phony Soldiers comment. So, I say again just to be clear, it is Media Matters and Missliberties that apply the term Phony Soldiers to any soldier that advocates withdrawal, not Rush Limbaugh.

Nice work GR!
But this is all we need to know from your research.....
So Rush edited the transcript and the tape as I stated, and it's all part of the infamous context, in which there is no mention of your anti-hero Jesse, which is one person, singular, as in soldier, not plural as in soldiers.
Rush can still be your hero, I really don't care, as I am sure you agree with the gist of what he is saying...... which is basically all about the left and why democrats hate America. :)
It is the economy, stupid.
Lies. Nothing but lies.
You must like lying because that is all you are doing on this totally debunked crusade. Rush clearly discussed Jesse Macbeth as a follow-up to the caller. Your selective editing won't change that fact. True, you mentioned that the audio had been edited as you tried to imply a cover up of a fanrication of some sort. There was none. Rush let the caller finish their points and then moved on to Jesse Macbeth.
And Jesse Macbeth is not the only such example. There are certainly others. Not discussed on that portion of the program but still the exist.
They too are an example of how the left must fabricate lies to try and make a point. Rush is right, truth is your biggest enemy.
You can lie all you want but I'll be right here to counter those lies with the truth.

I look forward to seeing if Rush takes up the challenge to debate with a real soldier who served in Iraq, John Stolz of Vote Vets. I doubt that Rush has the courage.

Rush does nuance?
Funny thing is GR, you are telling me and others, who have eyes and ears that we can see with and hear with, not to believe our eyes and ears.
The people who do not listen to Rush on a regular basis, don't do nuance Rush style.
This equivocation by Rush of having to 'set the record straight' is an admission that the record needed to be straightened....... hmmmmm. I wonder why.
This is Rush imitating Kerry. Rush was against the soldiers (that speak out against the war) before he was for them.
Rush fans might understand Rush's nuanced position, but the rest of us not so much.
Rush was speaking about soldiers that come back from Iraq and speak out. Those that don't tow the 'party line'.
Can you identify which of these soldiers spoke out against the war, or as Rush would characterize them were the 'phony soldiers'.
Don't worry Rush won't lose any of his hard core fans, who will understand his nuanced moral equivocations that only "real" soldiers support the war.
The rest of the soldiers in Rush's mind are 'fakes or phonies", not because they followed orders, did their jobs and completed their tour of duty, but because they speak out against the President failed war strategy.
It is the economy, stupid.
No need for nuance here ...
Rush simply never meant what Media Matters fabricated and what you are seeking to propagate.
Because you and Media Matters are fabricating lies. Duh.
And this is the lie. Rush was talking about the people like Jesse Macbeth who never went to Iraq but claim that they did while spreading lies about the supposed atrocities that he witnessed. For some reason the left laps this kind of thing up and holds these people up to be courageous when in fact they are losers. I guess that they are in good company, so to speak.
Rush never meant anyone other than the Jesse Macbeth's of the world.
You lie, I correct the record. That's how this will play out.

Isnt it weird that RW know more of Macbeth than Kossacks
The first I heard of Jesse Macbeth was from you.
So how can he be a liberal sensation when nobody has heard about him except rightwingers like Rush and Malkin and the RW crowd.
Look, just because the guy at dkos hasn't heard of him ...
and you haven't heard of him ...
doesn't mean he isn't exactly what he appears to be, a left wing nut case posing as a soldier to smear the troops. He's clearly not right wing because we have no reason to smear the troops.
Was he a big deal before the "Phony Soldier" flap? Probably not.
The irony here is that nobody would probably know about him today if it wasn't for the Phony Media Matters smear on Rush. That's what catapulted his name everywhere in the first place: people defending Rush. Now he has become a phenomenon and has been successfuly labeled a left wing hero all because of another smear attempt by the left gone wrong.
In a way this is the whole Betray Us thing all over again. MoveOn tried to smear Patraeus and it failed big time and they will have that tag forever. MediaMatters tried to create a left wing version of Betray Us by hyping and lying about what Rush said and asserting that he meant something that he clearly did not. This too backfired miserably which makes it all the more funny.
The best thing the left can do at this point is let them both blow over. If/when they introduce a resolution to condemn Rush over this made up story, that too will backfire. Republicans are never going to support it because the MediaMatters lies are just too obvious.

Emmett Terrell (your Hillary hating pal) and David Brock (the founder of Media Matters) worked together on the details in your famous Clinton is a murderer dairy.
David Brock quit after he realized that he had been had, and that trooper gate was a phony set up. He even wrote a book about it.
He was so disgusted he switched loyalties and his response was to do something about it by creating a media fact checking organization which is thorough and meticulous known as Media Matters.
This George Soros strawman (tin foil hat theory) is out of hand, as if that makes Rush less of a phony patriot.
You think the US govt or the Bush's have never taken money from the bin Laden family? Shocking they have! The people that are the terrorists have given money to the US govt. Does that discredit our govt. You can't just say Soros and expect that you have won some brilliant point in an argument, because you haven't. It is just a sign of desparation.

Paul Singer, a member of Giuliani's national finance committee
has been revealed as the money man behind a proposed ballot measure that would have changed California's winner-take-all Electoral College vote system
.Missouri attorney Charles Hurtt III was the legal agent for a tax-exempt corporation called "Take Initiative America," which provided the sole donation - $175,000 - to the effort to qualify the measure for the California ballot.
But Hurtt and his organization would not reveal the source of their money - even as Democrats in California threatened legal action and charged that the GOP-backed effort smacked of money laundering. They suggested there were numerous links between the ballot effort and the Giuliani campaign, and challenged the former New York mayor's campaign aides to reveal where the money came from.
The Presidential Election Reform Act would have changed the winner-take-all election rules for the 55 electoral votes in Democratic-leaning California. Many political observers said that would probably have provided an unexpected windfall for Republicans - perhaps as many electoral votes as could be gained in a major state such as Ohio or Pennsylvania - and possibly changed the outcome of the 2008 presidential election.
Singer is a member of Giuliani's national finance committee and has generated more than $500,000 for the Republican's presidential campaign. "This puts this money-laundering operation right inside the Giuliani campaign ... with Rudy's top donor and his closest confidants," said Chris Lehane, a Democratic strategist. "Federal election law is clear. If you're a presidential candidate, you or your agents can't direct money to a campaign that impacts the presidential campaign ... and there's no better way to rig the campaign than to impact the electoral college system."
