Discussion of the Slogan / Mission / Quote
This is the quote that will go below the Swords Crossed Site Title up top, and to the right of the Map. Do we want to keep the old one which was:
"The world continues to offer glittering prizes to those who have stout hearts and sharp swords." - E.E.Smith
Or we can keep taking suggestions and see if we like anything better.
Also any other thoughts about the look and any initial problems can go here.
This is an Open Thread.

Do we want a blog roll? Any blogs that people think we ought to link to? I've been reading The Agitator
a fair amount recently...

I've expanded the recent comments box to 20 :)
Yes, we should do a blog roll. I put it on a list of things to do which you all can access through "In Development" button above.
"To discuss evil in a manner implying neutrality, is to sanction it." AR
Yeah!
Sic semper tyrannis
that is a good one!
Though I know how much dems love Zell Miller.

Here is a
list
of great quotes. I still have to pick out my favorite.
Plenty of good ones, but I think I like:
or
(both by Joseph Juobert)
We are all mediators, translators. - Derrida
I can't say I necessarily agree
with either one... They sound nice. But they can also be false :)
"To discuss evil in a manner implying neutrality, is to sanction it." AR
Some truth in advertising?
"Look, I came here for an argument, I'm not going to just stand..."
"Oh, oh I'm sorry, but this is abuse."
(From Monty Python of course)
Why not put up a bunch and just rotate on through them?
well considering I'd put it
into the top graphic (for better look), it would be tough to rotate... Though it is probably possible to rotate the top graphic... Eh that is too much work at this point so let's do one to begin with.

I very much like the first one Specter.
I'm only half stupid
From the same site
"He that wrestles with us strengthens our nerves and sharpens our skill. Our antagonist is our helper." - Edmund Burke
Since few are commenting
I will second your choice.
2 votes, and so far the winner.

this is a test of a n/t

and another n/t with the signature enabled.

ok, you don't need
text in comment field anymore - and you can fill in the signature in your profile, if you want.

Feeling the new site.
I think things look pretty good. I'm digging the "true" map of America's Ideological Spectrum at the top.

I am not sure
how true that is :)

Wow, now that I look at it..
It looks quite weird. The Dakotas are blue as heck..and the parentheses blue states (coastal states) don't look very blue at all! Still though, I think it's neat.

the dakotas
have 2 dem senators I think who are very popular. So when there is no Republican at the top of the ticket, both Dakotas vote for the dems.

You're right!
I see now that this is a 2006 congressional map you have here. I found a link for it:

Love the EE Smith quote
and the colored map is great. Say, why is South Dakota so blue?
see Charles' comment above
it's 2006 congressional election map. :) That's why.

I also like the original EE Smith quote
and it explains the origin of the name of the site.
