Well said

I still remember the "ah ha!" moment in 11th grade when my social studies teacher finally got through to me that one could understand quite a bit about a society by studying how they interpreted history and what they considered important. It's become a cliche to say that history is written by the winners, but I think it's fair to say that how we choose to write our history (not just with respect to Thanksgiving) says a lot about who we are today.

Anyway, my wife and I are back home with family and friends, and looking forward to the conversation and food. Hope y'all have a good holiday.

Come, my friends. 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world -- Tennyson

Hodgson is a British journalist and historian. His "A Great and Godly Adventure: The Pilgrims and the Myth of the First Thanksgiving'' makes clear that the Pilgrims embarked on the angry north Atlantic in storm season not because they wanted to impose their strict ways on anyone, but to avoid being bothered by anyone.
