Football uber alles
So, what is the most important news in the world today? Is it the upcoming meeting between Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki?
Heavens no.

Is it Nicole Richie being named Worst Dressed Celebrity by PETA?
Perish the thought!

Is it Pope Benny's "Kiss-and-Make-Up-With-the-Muslims" Tour of Turkey?
Don't be absurd! Who cares about that?

Then surely it must be the massive snowstorm that has hit the Northwest?
Well, yes and no.

Well then, how about the report that AIDS and HIV are actually on the rise, not in decline as previously thought?
Hmmmmmm. Let me think about that for a moment.
Um. No. Sorry. Not today. Maybe tomorrow.

Shula has been in disfavor for most of the year. Losing to Auburn was the last straw.

This IS an outrage!!!
How did Cutler only make the cover of the RMNews?!?! This country is going down the drain!
In all seriousness, since when has news been about things that mattered? It seems to me it is about blood, guts, scandal, celebrities, oddities, sports, weather, and, um, um, hmm, oh yeah, a 1 or 2 page spread about politics and things that actually affect us.
Not left leaning, not right leaning, but 'what sells' leaning. That's news.

Sports will just have to suffice until another nipple is exposed on national TV.

Always look on the bright side:
one more day of football headlines means one less day of celebrity navel gazing.
Thanks for bringing this over: I read the version on dkos and one of those simultaneous laugh/groans at the state of our news media.
